More coding changes are just one month away. Are you ready?

December 4, 2023

In previous installments of Coffee & Coding, we’ve reviewed updates to ICD-10 and CPT codes for 2024, some of which have already gone into effect. Now, as we approach the end of the year, it’s time to highlight one more category of changes that will take effect on January 1—the HCPCS codes used to identify products, supplies, and services not included in the CPT codes.

Although 7,800 of these HCPCS codes remain the same from 2023, there are 346 new additions as well as 63 discontinued codes, 11 coverage changes, and 52 description changes to keep up with. Not all of these codes will be used at your office, but they will affect coding for the facility.

We’ve provided an overview of the changes below. Please note that this is not an all-inclusive list. This week, we’ll cover code changes beginning with the letters A, C, E, and G. Next week, we’ll cover the rest. So, grab an extra-large mug of coffee, and let’s dive in.
